The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing technical maintenance expertise related to work order processing, installing, repairing, servicing equipment, and overall maintaining wash quality standards and overall product including the vacuum area and pay station throughout the assigned District. This role will involve training of all team members on maintenance, repairs, and safety standards through training programs and scheduled site visits. The goal of this role is to support a reduction of wash down times, closing site-level work orders, and staying within given capital and operational budgets. This role will work closely with the District Manager, Site Managers, local site level team members and Maintenance Director to expeditiously address wash down, wash quality, and facilities related issues. They will also be responsible for reviewing and following up on completion of any 3rd party scheduled projects.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Support
- Provide technical knowledge and support during wash down
- Perform installation and updating of wash equipment, components, repairing, replacing, troubleshooting equipment and buildings on property
- Ensure optimal operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications, troubleshoot malfunctions while training others
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools
- Advanced electrical work and control wiring, plumbing maintenance, installing, dismantling, repairing and reassembling machinery and equipment
- Metal fabrication/welding
- Provide resources to site team members to deliver a great wash experience to customers
- Scheduled site visits each week to designated sites within district
- Actively participate in weekly meetings with operations and support team
- Projects can include work being done after normal business hours
Wash Quality
- Maintain a work order target as budgeted
- Maintain safety standard requirements
- Ensure landscaping is maintained neat and clean
- Attend weekly wash quality meeting with District and facilities management
- Conduct wash quality audits and ensure proper follow up and action including documentation via work orders
Organizational Support
- Collaborate with District Manager and Site Managers to provide expert knowledge on facilities and to coach, direct, train local based team members.
- Work together with Facilities Maintenance Director to schedule production to budget
- Assist acquisitions and new development team in launching locations
- Interact with support office to ensure completion of any licensing or permitting requirements
- Work directly with District Manager and Facilities Maintenance Director to resolve issues and review overall tunnel operations
- Travel and training between all sites in the district performing tunnel repairs and new equipment installs
- Partner closely with District/Area team to complete high priority projects and implement new technology launches
- Schedule and conduct repair and maintenance projects
Expense Management
- Maintain budgeted standards for facilities and equipment repairs/Cap Ex projects
- Increase car counts through efficiencies
- Reduce or eliminate down time within targeted budget per month per location
Training
- Facilitate training with Site Managers
- Participate in training of District Manager new hires on daily operating procedures, closing procedures, and any facility or wash related task related to operations
- Onsite training of team members concerning quality of wash and best safety practices
- 2+years’ experience in an industrial, facilities, or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components including shafts, bearings, gear boxes, pumps, motors, drives
- Valid driver’s license
- Associate degree, equivalent technical training, or appropriate hands-on experience
- Certification through a tech/trade school beyond high school preferred
- Ability to effectively train team members on the proper way to safely operate equipment while ensuring a high-quality member experience
- Strong time management and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Carwash management/mechanical experience preferred
- Proactive, self-starter on identifying tasks and programs to complete and/or document; strong ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Available to be on-call during weekends
- Available to do project in evening after normal business hours
- Extensive travel required
