Manage the construction of remodels, new facilities and special projects as assigned. Insure timely completion, quality results and budget control on all projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as a liaison between the developer/general contractor/architect/civil engineer/Zips Operations/other vendors as needed to insure proper communication and correspondence occur in a timely manner in order to expedite the construction process
  • Provide detailed updates in roll out meetings on status of all assigned projects
  • Provide timely communication to Zips Operations & Facilities staff on assigned projects
  • Assist with development, review and modification of construction documents as needed
  • Manage the GC bid process, working with the developer on leveling the bids and creating recommendation for designated GC
  • Manage the construction process, including developer, GC and major equipment vendors, in an oversight manner
  • Maintain constant contact with Developer, GC, vendors, Zip Operations, Zips IT, purchasing and supervisor to ensure on-time opening of new facilities
  • Periodic on-site visits to manage and drive progress on construction projects
  • Coordinate turn-over of project to store opening team
  • Test and confirm functionality of all systems, working with other staff as necessary
  • Maintain and update project tracking software as required
  • Attend zoning, planning and predevelopment meetings with cities as required
  • Ensure all regulatory, licensing and other certifications are met in advance of opening date. Work through issues with authorities and /or vendors as needed
  • Interface with other vendors as needed such as Zips IT, phone, low-voltage cabling, etc. to ensure timely delivery and installation of items
  • Performs other duties as necessary or requested by supervisor
  • Ensure each vendor is given the highest level of customer service and every staff member is treated with the utmost respect

  • Quality of Turn Over Facility is finished at turn over to Zips Ops with only minor punch list items
  • Adherence to budget on assigned projects
  • Resolution to deficiency lists on all assigned projects
  • Positive attitude towards work and accepting direction from supervisor and co-workers
  • Pleasant demeanor dealing with others (employees, vendors, etc.)
  • Effective and efficient use of time
  • Proactively offers to assist other team-members with projects, events and tasks
  • Timely attention and organization of paperwork, forms and communications (email, VM)
  • Available in off-hours via cell phone and email




Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Must be comfortable using computers and learning to use web-based development programs and applications for drawing or updating electronic floor plans, email, etc.,
  • At least three to five years of experience managing construction jobs
  • Must have the ability to perform simple and complex tasks including project scheduling, forecasting and budget reconciliation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available during a variety of different hours and be willing to travel 80% of the time
